The Crown Country Inn was awarded 2 AA Rosettes for the quality of their food in October 2006 and every year since. We have twice won "Best Restaurant" at the Deliciously Shropshire Good Eating awards. The restaurant was also "highly commended" at the Heart of England "Food and Drink Excellence" awards in the "Best Restaurant using Local Produce" category.
We are the only pub in Shropshire to be featured in the GastroPub Cookbook by Diana Henry, who called the Crown "a shrine to local food producers and farmers."
We are also featured in the Real Ale Pub Guide, the Michelin Eating Out in Pubs Guide, the AA Pub Guide, the AA Bed and Breakfast Guide and Which Good Food Guide.
Some of our customer comments....
"Simply the Best"
A wonderful period hotel, set in a peaceful country location. Lovely period features enhance the atmosphere and the accommodation at the rear was set by some lovely quiet gardens. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable, and provided with more than what you might expect at a B&B. The service was quiet, relaxed, informal and without fuss. Very professional, and the food was top notch (when the cook is in the Michelin Guide and a Masterchef, well what else could you expect?)

"Cosy Quiet Getaway"
One of the warmest welcomes we have ever had!
A very pleasant owner, always helpful and some very attentive staff too (not that easy to find these days!) The Crown is a real gem, with some interesting places nearby and some beautiful walks. Which is just as well, you'll need to work up an appetite because the food is very good indeed! All the food on the menu is locally sourced and there is also a good selection of local beers/ ciders to keep you going back for more (we certainly are!) Highly recommended.

"... a delight"
Your enthusiasm for good food and seemingly endless energy preparingyour own fare from scratch (black pudding and smoked chicken as just two examples) was a delight.

"We had a wonderful meal"
...and wanted to say thank you to your friendly staff for wonderful service and to the chef for really good food that we are still talking about - in particular the mini puddings! I don't think they will be beaten. It was lovely to come to a really cosy pub with such lovely food. We will certainly be back again and will be recommending you to our friends and family!
